What working with an iOS developer through MATROP looks like
Hiring an iOS app developer is about more than writing code. An iPhone app passes through Apple at every release, so the developer has to work inside your Apple account, share test builds with your team, answer Apple’s reviewers, and keep the app working when Apple releases a new iOS version every year. This page explains how that works week by week when you hire the work through MATROP PRIVATE LIMITED, and what you need to provide.
Take a coaching institute in Ranchi that already has an Android app for test results and attendance. Parents with iPhones keep asking for the same app. The backend and records already exist, so the iOS job is to build the iPhone app on the same data, take it through Apple’s review, and keep it updated. That is the kind of work this page covers. If you have not yet set up your Apple account or decided whether an iOS app is worth it, start with our iOS app development company in Ranchi page.
What you provide before we start
Apple account access through team roles
Your organisation holds the Apple Developer Program membership and stays the Account Holder. From App Store Connect, you invite our developers as team members with a suitable role, such as Admin, App Manager or Developer, depending on what they need to do. Please do not share your Apple ID password. Apple sends sign-in codes to your own devices, shared passwords cannot be cut off for one person, and a team role can be removed in a minute when a project ends. Some steps, such as accepting updated Apple agreements, can only be done by the Account Holder, so keep that person reachable.
Test iPhones
We test on our own devices, but the app must also be tried on the iPhones your users really carry. Ideally, your team has one older iPhone still in use and one recent model, plus an iPad if the app will be used on one. Testers install Apple’s TestFlight app and accept an email invitation, so nothing has to be plugged into a computer.
Content and decisions
- App name, icon, short description and a support contact for the App Store listing.
- A privacy policy page on your website that matches what the app collects.
- Sample data and test logins for each user role, such as parent, teacher and admin.
- One person on your side who can answer questions and approve each test round.
Our page on working with a mobile application developer in Ranchi covers the broader requirement list, such as screen lists and offline needs, which applies to both Android and iPhone.
The build, test and review cycle
- Milestone build: we finish an agreed set of screens and upload a build to App Store Connect.
- TestFlight round: your testers try real tasks on their own iPhones and send notes with screenshots.
- Fixes: we correct what they found and upload the next build. Most projects go through several rounds.
- Submission: we prepare the listing, App Privacy details, a demo login and review notes, then submit for App Store review.
- Apple’s decision: the app is approved or comes back with a message. Review times vary, so we do not promise a release date that depends on Apple.
- Release: you can release immediately after approval or hold the approved version and release it on a date you choose.
When Apple rejects a build
A rejection is a message, not a disaster. Apple says which part of the App Store Review Guidelines it believes the app does not meet. We read the cited guideline, then either fix the app and resubmit, or reply in App Store Connect with an explanation if the reviewer misunderstood something. If we believe the decision is wrong, Apple offers an appeal route. You see every message, because they arrive in your account.
| Common reason | What it usually means | Typical fix |
|---|---|---|
| Crash or bug during review | Something failed on the reviewer’s device or network. | Reproduce it, fix it, and test again on several iPhones before resubmitting. |
| Reviewer could not sign in | The demo login was missing, expired or blocked by a one-time password step. | Provide a working demo account and clear review notes. |
| Incomplete information | Placeholder text, missing privacy details or a broken support link. | Complete the listing and privacy details. |
| Unclear permission request | The app asks for camera or location without a clear reason. | Rewrite the permission message to say exactly why it is needed. |
| Too similar to a website | The app adds little beyond what a browser shows. | Add app features that serve the user, or reconsider whether an app is needed. |
After a new iOS version comes out
Apple releases a major iOS update every year, and many iPhones install it soon after. An app that worked last month can show a cut-off screen, a changed permission prompt or a notification problem. We test your app on the new version and fix what breaks. Apple also raises the minimum tools and software versions it accepts for new uploads from time to time, so an app that is not touched for a long time may need technical work before even a small change can be published.
Two routine items also need attention. Some certificates used for distribution and notifications have expiry dates and must be renewed. And when Apple updates its developer agreement, the Account Holder must accept it in the developer account, or uploads can be blocked until they do. We remind you of both as part of support, by phone or WhatsApp on 9430106005 from our Ranchi office.
Handover checklist for an iOS app
- Source code: the full app project in a repository you can access, or a complete copy at handover.
- Build notes: the Xcode version used and the steps to produce a new build.
- Apple account: your organisation as Account Holder, with a list of team members and their roles.
- App identifiers: the bundle ID, and the notification keys or certificates with their renewal dates.
- Backend: server, database and admin panel logins, plus notes on the REST APIs the app uses.
- Third-party services: every service the app uses, with the account holder for each.
- Release history: what changed in each version, and any review messages from Apple.
The ownership questions behind this list are the same as for Android. Our page on hiring an Android app developer in Ranchi explains them in more detail.
When this arrangement is not right for you
If you want a developer working full time in your office, hiring an employee will suit you better than a project with an outside company. If very few of your users carry iPhones, spend the money on Android or your website first. If you would rather publish under a developer’s account to avoid enrolment, we will advise against it, because moving an app between accounts later is slow and depends on that person.
